With an illustrious journey spanning over three decades, my roots are deeply entwined with the beauty industry. A true Tri-State native, I've lived and breathed the art of cosmetology in this very region. My life is colored by the role of a devoted wife to an incredible partner named Adam and a mother to three remarkable souls. The spark for this industry ignited in me during my childhood, and it's been a passionate flame ever since. My perspective is enriched by witnessing the industry's panorama from every angle imaginable – from cozy havens to bustling salons with over twenty artists under one roof.
Tangles, the salon of my dreams and my heart's work, has been my world for two decades and counting. The camaraderie within my salon company team is a treasure I hold dear. My canvas is as diverse as the people I serve; I thrive on crafting captivating cuts and colors across all hair types. My ultimate joy comes from gifting my guests a reflection they adore when they step out of my salon.
My quest for excellence propels me to unceasingly seek knowledge. I've been a devoted attendee of the Bi-Annual Redken symposium since 2005 and an eager participant in the annual State/Salon Centric hair show in St. Louis, as well as the renowned America's Beauty Show in Chicago. Local education events are also a staple in my calendar. But what truly ignites my spirit are the hands-on workshops, where I challenge my boundaries and embrace the unknown in pursuit of growth. My ethos is simple: I don't settle for just good; I strive to be even better, pushing my boundaries and setting new standards.
Kelsey
Keokuk, Iowa, is where my story begins and continues to unfold. Nestled here with my partner in life, Brett, I'm rooted in the very soil that raised me. Our journey took a poignant turn when we welcomed our daughter Nora, who embarked on her heavenly journey shortly after her birth. Our spirited son Beckett, all of three years old, keeps me on my toes, reminding me of life's joyful whirlwind.
The charm of small-town life resonates deeply with me. After completing my education at The Salon Professional Academy in Iowa City, my heart was resolute: Keokuk was where I belonged. Carrying a license adorned with over 9 years of expertise, my passion for the art of transformation burns brighter than ever. I'm an ardent fan of crafting captivating blondes and fashioning balayage that exudes that effortless, lived-in allure. Honoring the hair's integrity is non-negotiable for me; each chemical treatment is a journey in nurturing its essence.

I'm a true product of the tri-state area, my roots deeply entwined within its fabric. The halls of Capri in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, witnessed my transformative journey through cosmetology school. A journey that's spanned over 9 years in the beauty industry, yet the thrill and passion are as alive as they were on day one. My annual pilgrimage to the State Beauty/Salon Centric Hair Show in St. Louis is a testament to my hunger for learning. I'm a devoted disciple of trends – from cutting-edge techniques to coloring wizardry – and an ardent advocate for guiding my guests towards the best products, ensuring their at-home hair care is as fabulous as their salon visit.
Each sunrise brings with it a fresh canvas, an opportunity to weave happiness and confidence into someone's life through their hair. Keokuk, Iowa is where my story began and took root. The spark for my journey was ignited by a special figure named Lynn, a close friend of my mom's. Even in her untimely passing, Lynn's impact remained, and her essence fueled my aspirations. As a young girl, I voiced a dream: to mirror her path when I grew up. That dream has materialized into my reality as a stylist, and I am forever indebted to her memory.
Before my formal education at the American Hair Academy, I was already dabbling in the world of hair artistry. Friends' special occasions and color guard events became my creative canvas, a space where I honed my skills. Graduating in 2016 marked the formal beginning of my professional journey, and the doors of Tangles swung open to welcome me. I can say with confidence that I've found my forever home; the salon's essence resonates with mine in a harmonious symphony.
The salon's aura propels me forward, igniting my inspiration in manifold ways. My quest for knowledge has led me to the pinnacle of our industry – the Redken Symposium in Las Vegas, where luminaries share their wisdom on cutting-edge techniques. Trips to Chicago's Americas Beauty Show and the Discovery show in St. Louis are annual rituals, enriching my knowledge and fanning my passion. Learning is my heartbeat; it's my way of giving back to an industry that continues to nurture me.
Samantha
As a seasoned hair stylist with a passion for both creativity and precision, I bring over a decade of experience to my craft. With a keen eye for detail and a knack for understanding clients' unique preferences, I strive to create personalized looks that not only enhance their natural beauty but also reflect their individual personalities. My journey in hairstyling began as a young mother balancing the demands of raising two boys, now aged 22 and 15, which has instilled in me a deep sense of patience, empathy, and adaptability—qualities that resonate in my approach to hairstyling.
Outside of the salon, I find solace and inspiration in nature's amazing beauty. Alongside my two beloved companions, Isha and Thor, my faithful canine companions, I find joy in exploring the wonders of the natural world. This appreciation for nature's wonders often finds its way into my work, as I draw inspiration from its vibrant colors, textures, and fluidity to craft hairstyles that are as timeless and captivating as the landscapes that inspire them.
